Why repair your electronics?

In our current economic climate, every dollar counts. Purchasing another piece of equipment when your current one needs a minor repair doesn't make fiscal sense all the time. This is something to consider when, for example, your television has an issue with its color or sound. It may be an easy, low-costly repair. At Glen Oaks Service Labs, we offer in-home repair of televisions.
Also, there is an overwhelming demand for working condition, high-end vintage electronic equipment. Restoring your item to factory specifications may allow you to earn money on things you once considered worthless!

According to the US EPA, more than 4.6 million tons of electronic waste ended up in US landfills. Toxic chemicals in electronics products can leach into the land over time or are released into the atmosphere, impacting nearby communities and the environment.
Many electronics get incinerated, releasing heavy metals such as lead, cadmium and mercury into the air and ashes. Mercury released into the atmosphere can bio accumulate in the food chain, particularly in fish - the major route of exposure for the general public. If the products contain PVC plastic, highly toxic dioxins and furans are also released. Brominated flame retardants generate brominated dioxins and furans when electronic waste is burned.

Sentimental value
Many of us have inherited pieces of equipment that belonged to relatives that have moved or passed away. Instead of throwing away these items, many make the decision to revive them and bring them back to factory settings. For many people, this helps them feel a bit closer to those they cared for.
